NPQ Scholarship funding for the Spring 2019 Intake

We understand that teachers in Category 5 and 6 areas may be able to access scholarship funding for National Professional Qualifications in school leadership for the spring 2019 intake.

The Department for Education (DfE) has not confirmed whether it expects to fund all eligible candidates, or whether the funds will run out during this recruitment period. £10m was allocated in the autumn of 2017.

In the event scholarships are over-subscribed the DfE reserves the right to prioritise funding using the following criteria (in order of priority):

1. Participants working in Opportunity Areas
2. Participants working in schools where more than 30% of pupils receive Free School Meals
3. Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) teachers and leaders
4. Participants working in a school in an Opportunity Area, where the school is below the Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 4 floor standards
