Why the Executive Leaders

Apprenticeship with NPQEL?

The National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) are a suite of established DfE accredited qualifications for school leaders, designed to support professional development - helping school leaders and teachers become more effective.

The Executive Leaders Apprenticeship with NPQEL  is more than just an NPQ, it is a chance to extend your leadership training and gain an extra qualification whilst doing so.

  • More than an NPQ

Whilst the traditional NPQ delivers essential knowledge and concepts that underpin successful executive leadership, this apprenticeship focuses on the holistic development of the appropriate skills and behaviours, to apply your new found knowledge at a senior/executive level at your setting or across school groups.
Engaging with an apprenticeship is both a challenging and rewarding commitment which will fully prepare you for the demands and rewards of executive leadership.
  • The Executive Leaders Apprenticeship with NPQEL qualifies for funding from the apprenticeship levy fund.
Outstanding Leaders Partnership can support your school or trust to engage staff on apprenticeship training and access levy funding.
    • Levy paying Academies and Trusts: Drawn down directly using your Apprenticeship Service Account
    • Maintained schools (LA funded): Drawn down by the Local Authority from their levy fund
    • Non-levy paying schools: Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) will fund 95% of the course fee through the ‘co-investment’ scheme
  • On the Executive Leaders Apprenticeship with NPQEL you will receive a dedicated apprenticeship tutor and a separate personal NPQ tutor.  By completing the apprenticeship you will receive additional 1:1 coaching, content and support, including monthly check-ins online & in-person.
  • Completion of this programme leads to the Level 7 Senior Leader apprenticeship standard and the Full National Professional Qualification in Executive Leadership.
It also aligns with recognition by: Chartered Management Institute – Chartered Fellow, The Institute of Leadership and Management – Fellow
The programme can also act as a springboard on to Liverpool Hope University’s MA in Leading in Education or the MBA in Educational Leadership, as it is aligned to Masters credits.
  • Whilst on this programme you are entitled to a NUS student discount card, giving you access to discounts in many shops and resturants.
