Dr. Lynn Sampson-Chappell
Head of Professional Partnership Development, Liverpool Hope University, and OLP Board Member
Lynn is passionate about improving outcomes and opportunities for children and young people, making a real difference to their life chances. This led her to take over the leadership of the Partnership for Professional Programmes at Liverpool Hope University, where Lynn works in collaboration with schools, leading the strategic development of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and postgraduate taught programmes (PGT) to develop accredited and non-accredited CPDL (Continuous Professional Development and Learning) to meet educational improvement priorities focusing on raising pupil attainment and achievement, regionally, nationally and internationally. Recent developments include; the validation of new PGT provision which takes account of the NPQs as the foundation to Masters study; a suite of postgraduate certificates for teachers and leaders; an innovative New Masters in Leadership for Educational Advantage; an MBA (Educational Leadership) and Bespoke CPD and Research projects in collaboration with Partnership schools.
Lynn was the Programme Leader for the MA Creativity and Education for the Professions where she brought together an innovative teaching team of expert professionals across the arts including national organisations. Thus building upon her 12 years experience as a Secondary Arts Educator, Head of Art, Line manager for Secondary Arts provision, Art Subject lead for Initial Teacher Education and as a Secondary Deputy Headteacher.
Lynn has also led the PGCE Art Secondary, MTL, MATL, School Direct and MA Educational Leadership programmes. She has experience of leading and teaching Coaching & Mentoring regionally and nationally.
Research
Lynn has recently completed her Doctor of Education thesis, which focuses on the stages of child development and the implications this has for educators and parents to construct learning situations pertinent to the age/stage development of their learners/children.
Lynn has worked on a Research and Knowledge Transfer (HEIF) funded project, to explore the notions of partnership, in Secondary school settings, across Cheshire. Lynn was part of the consultancy team, which worked with Bethlehem University, on a World Bank funded project to improve pedagogical capacity in teacher education programmes.
Lynn has been involved with a British Academy funded research project, exploring the different cultural values that underpin education in the Middle East (Palestine) and England (Cheshire).
Lynn has also been part of the Grundtvig Learning partnerships funded project exploring the potential of the Arts to connect people. The project is about connecting adult educators, performing artists and the adults they work with, through intercultural participatory drama and art approaches.
